Discover Merville-Franceville Plage

Welcome to Merville-Franceville Plage

Merville-Franceville Plage is one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in our magnificent region of Normandy Cabourg Pays d’Auge. Nature lovers and sensation seekers know it: our little piece of paradise, bordered on one side by the Orne and on the other by the Côte Fleurie, conceals many places where the power of the sea, the calm of the land and sometimes a fleeting magic mix and express themselves.

Come and explore our ecological and ornithological heritage, our vast cultivated areas, our plateaus and our grazed marshes!

At the western end of the Côte fleurie, this seaside resort on a human scale happily combines the dapper charm of a village in bloom and the appeal of a vast sandy beach (7km), the grandeur of a site marked by contemporary history and the friendliness of a family destination with a wealth of leisure activities. A kaleidoscope of charming landscapes awaits you: a pretty marina overlooking the Bay of Orne, dunes, marine areas and freshwater marshes, hospitable paths criss-crossing the riotous countryside.

Pumptrack

Located near the sea, the Pumptrack is an asphalt track made up of bumps and curves, dedicated to land-based gliding activities. BMX, ROLLER, TROTTINETTE, SKATE… These tracks, dotted with round obstacles and bends, are adapted to the level of each participant. The aim is not to pedal but to use the obstacles, bumps and turns to gain speed.

The participants take off on one of the 3 courses. Beginner: green track of 43 metres, intermediate: blue track of 96 metres or advanced: more technical red track of 77 metres!

Beach, Sport and History

The 7 km of fine sand are ideal for long walks and cockle fishing and make it a very famous kite surfing spot, sheltered by the dunes.

Windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, longe côte or Hawaiian pirogue… complete this range of marine activities which are added to the many land-based outings possible for the family. Cycling along the dozens of kilometres of cycle paths along the coast is a pleasant way to reach the town centre, the port and the magnificent Gros Banc bird sanctuary.

And to complete this discovery of the area, plunge into the heart of history with a visit to the Merville Battery, the object of an unimaginable assault on the night of 5th to 6th June 1944.
